What is the application?

Straight Flexible Moulding

• The moulding is dimensionally square.  Dimensionally square moulding will bend equally well in any direction.
• The moulding is wider than it is thick - but you are bending it in the direction of the lesser dimension

Typical applications for straight flexible mouldings include:

• Base and Base Cap
• Chair Rail
• Quarter Round
• Base Shoe
• Jamb Stock
• Small panel mouldings

Precautions

• The minimum radius attainable depends on the thickness of the moulding. The absolute minimum radius is 4 inches for most mouldings 3/4" think and less.
  
• Crown moulding should not be ordered straight due the the angle at which it is installed.

Radiused Flexible Moulding

in this case the moulding is pre-curved to the approximate radius supplied by the customer. this option is used when...

• The moulding is wider than it is thick and you are bending it in the direction of the larger dimension.
• The curve that the moulding will be applied to is a consistent arc (a full circle or any portion of a circle) such as a half circle or eyebrow arch and most crown moulding applications.

Typical applications for radiused mouldings include:

• Casing for arch top windows and doors
• Crown moulding on round walls or dormers

Adds no additional cost or time to the order

When ordering you will need to know the radius. The radius can be found by measuring the width and rise of the arch:

Half circles can be ordered with straight legs if desired, eliminating the need for miter joints. To do so add the necessary length to the order form and specify "straight legs" in the "Special Instructions" box on the order form.

Custom Flexible Moulding

in this case the moulding is pre-curved to a template or other instructions as supplied by the customer. this option is used when...

• The moulding is wider than it is thick and you are bending it in the direction of the larger dimension AND
• The curve that the moulding will be applied to is NOT a consistent arc. Examples include elliptical arches and ovals

Typical applications for custom mouldings include:

• Elliptical arches
• Ovals
• Irregular and multiple radius curves

Precautions

• Custom orders usually require a template of the curve. See the "Template Instructions" page for more information
• Ovals are manufactured with the ends NOT connected to allow for adjustments during installation.
