Crown Radius
How to determine the radius for "Crown" applications
For "non-crown" applications see: "How to Determine the Radius for Non-Crown applications"
If you are ordering the moulding as "Radiused" (see "What is the application") it means that the moulding will need to be pre-curved during manufacturing to the approximate shape of the curve. Pre-curving to a specified radius does not add any additional cost or time to the order and ensures the best possible fit and finish.
There are 3 basic types of radius applications:
Inside Radius (Concave)
To calculate the radius of a concave wall you will need to know the width and the depth of the curve. Then use the radius calculator |
|
Outside Radius (Convex)
To calculate the radius of a convex wall:
Use the longest level available that will fit in the space and place it against the wall at the center point of the curve.
Measure the distance from the wall at both ends and adjust the level until the distance is eqaul.
The WIDTH is the width of the level and the DEPTH is the distance from the wall at the ends.
Enter the width and depth into the radius calculator

Dormer
To calculate the radius of a dormer you will need to know the width and the rise of the dormer. Then use the radius calculator to calculate the radius. |
|
The radius does not have to be exact. The moulding will flex to fit as long as the calculated radius is within an inch or 2.
